American Bully Question

Does an American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier really make up those bigger dogs known as the American Bully? I've seen a lot of pictures of them online and they all look different. Are all of them mixes of either the AmStaff, Pit, and Staff Bull? or are they mixed with other dog breeds too? I can tell a dog like Daddy the Pit Bull is a AmStaff/Pit mix because he has the body of an AmStaff and the face of a Pit, but the bigger and heavier mixes I wonder if there are different breeds from the 3 I mentioned.

Thanks!

I think those are 3 different types of dogs. Sure they are all bully breeds, but to my understanding, the Am. Bullie was more of the standard"original" bulldog. Now there are 2 different types of Am. Bullie. There is the Johnson type and the Scott type and they are called that from the owners that originated them aloooong time ago. One of them is slender more skinny and taller, while the other is stocky and more english bulldog build. Alot of the Am. Bulldogs you typically see are crosses between the 2.

Did I confuse you more, or help you out?

It sounds like you are talking about American Bulldogs which is a different bread than the American Bully which has it’s own kennel club but is not yet recognized by the AKC.
OP: As far as my research has told me American Bullies are a mixture of all of the breeds you mentioned with the addition of bulldogs and in some of the XL and XXL cases mastiffs are also part of the bloodline. The American Bully was bred as more of a companion dog so they attempted to combine behavioral traits of different dogs to create a dog that is a little lower maintenance as far as energy goes in the terriers with the more muscular build as well. Hope that helps.
This is an 11 year old thread and OP is long gone, so I'm closing it, but feel free to jump in on current forum discussions or make your own thread!
