Advice for grieving dog?

So sadly, my mom passed a week ago after a long battle with cancer. We are so devastated by her loss but we are all there for each other and working through it. A worry of mine is her dog, Olive. She is an 8 yo lab and was my moms bud. She is still at home with my dad, but was never really my dads dog. Don’t get me wrong, he is very good to her and takes good care of her, but she was my moms companion 100%.

she is super out of sorts since my moms passing. She just lays by moms chair and doesn’t seem herself.

us humans are able to voice our grief and move through it but I wish I could help Olive.

any tips for helping a dog overcome the loss of an owner? Or am I just anthropomorphizing my moms dog?

I'm sorry for your loss.

Yes, it can be very hard on a dog when they lose "their" person. Just give Olive some time. Extra attention, like walks and the like, would be good. If she seems like she doesn't want to eat, then asking your vet about an appetite stimulant would be a good idea.
I'm sorry about your mom. I'm sure she'd be grateful that you're looking after her girl. Maybe it'd both you and Olive good to get out and stretch your legs? Somewhere she won't be looking for your mom. Maybe fetch or swimming at a new park, or a nice hike somewhere pretty?
