Apparently Acana has reformulated the "Regionals" grain-free line, adding legumes and cutting down on the potato. Oh, and of course, making the bag size smaller while the price remains the same.

Price aside, I was wondering if anyone has tried the new formulas yet? I'm wondering if it's going to be an annoying transition from "old" Ranchlands to "new" Ranchlands. I'm frustrated at the prospect of having to switch foods yet again.

I don't really care about potato one way or the other...I think the legume thing is trendy. But I'm fine with it either way, and if we stay with Acana I'm sure she'll do fine on the new stuff. I'm just a little grumpy about the price jump and about having to transition my dog from the old formula to the new formula to avoid stomach upsets. Humbug!

from what I've read, white potato can be a culprit with dogs with allergies and legumes are better, I think, for dogs that need a low glycemic food.

I like the less potatoes thing, but the smaller bag size? What the heck. Merrick did this recently when they ditched the Before Grain label and downsized the bags. They did change the price a bit lower, though. I really hate it when companies stiff the customers.

The new biggest bag size is 28.6 pounds, which is 1.1 pound less than the old biggest bag. As for price, of course it depends where you buy it, but for example on petfoodstation.com, the old formula 29.7 pound bag of Ranchlands was listed at $71.99, while the new 28.6 pound bag is listed at 76.99. Not cool!

No, that is not cool! I currently feed Wild Prairie and have a full bag in my garage. After I finish that, I might just go back to Fromm.
