A question for all of you obedience people, there's a Golden Retriever that will not stay on the long sits and downs in the ring. It is not a case of separation anxiety or anything like that, but rather the dog wants to be where the party is, where all the people go. She's a confident dog as well. How would a person make her understand that she needs to stay, and not join the group of people? She would be a high scoring dog if she could qualify, and was high-in-trial in Novice.

Change the direction of the reward. Right now she gets rewarded by moving forward toward the party. Put the reward behind her. Put her on a long line with a really, really good treat directly behind her. Have her wait 10 seconds then send her to the treat. Repeat with varying times/distances.
