Hi there, I got a lovely 8 week old dachshund back in August. She's been a dream. I've been with her throughout. She hadn't had a wet night in her crate. At the start I was putting her to bed at 10 and then up at 2 /3 ,fine.
Anyway...after a few weeks she was going from 10-6.
I thought wow.
I walk her twice a day, I have children that also play with her to wear her out.
Anyway, the last 2 weeks she had 4 wet nights... why now ??? What's this about? She had done so well.
I don't get it.
Can anyone help?

It's always worth keeping an eye on a change in potty behavior, because sometimes it's only one out-of-the-ordinary thing that can tip you off something's up before you hit the point where you're seeing serious symptoms. It's definitely a good thing that you're not seeing any other potty-related issues, but it's worth keeping the possibility of a medical issue in mind. Especially if you're not sure whether she's waking up, pottying, and going back to sleep, or peeing in her sleep. The latter would be more unusual and cause for concern.

That being said, she's still a baby puppy, going through a lot of physical and mental development. Sometimes backsliding happens, kind of like a kid having a period of bed-wetting well after they've graduated from diapers. For now, I'd just go back to giving her a late-night potty trip, and try extending her period between potty breaks again in a few weeks.

I'd say go back to the middle of the night potty break. My German Shepherd was nearly two years old before she quit needing to go out in the wee hours almost every night.
