  1. Static Electricty

First Time Dog Owner and Basic Questions
I know it’s been a while since I originally posted this thread but Ive learned a little bit more. 1) I run the whole house humidifier during dry weather. Right now in my area it’s been between 30s-50s, next week should be in 18-20ish range. It’s easier on Kayla when the indoor humidity is at...

First Time Dog Owner and Basic Questions
Thanks for the suggestion Shell I'll try that tonight, do you put the white vinegar in the detergent or fabric softener side? The cover is washable and easy to get off.... not so easy to put the stuffing in but her comfort is worth it.

First Time Dog Owner and Basic Questions
Thank you for the suggestion PatriciafromCO! I will be doing that later tonight, we have a whole house humidifier that we use. I recently gave away our single room humidifier to a single mother in dire need of it for her baby so I don't have one I can use just in the bedroom.

First Time Dog Owner and Basic Questions
Hi Everyone, I tried to search the forums first before I put another post in but I couldn't find an answer that would work us. My sheepadoodle's (sheepdog + poodle) coat is full of static, especially when short. Last night she was on her puppy bed next to me and every time she turned around I...

I don't know why I didn't think to attach a more recent picture of Kayla... hopefully this can help figure out her coat type more easily. Sorry the pictures are in two different spots, I'm not sure why... MysticRealm: Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into saving up for your...

    Dog Grooming Forum
Hi All! I'm looking to both save money and hopefully bond more with my almost 2 year old sheepadoodle (Old eglish sheepdog and Poodle mix.) We got her 16 months ago and up to this point she's been groomed at a groomer or a mobile groomer. While I really appreciate all our mobile groomer does for...
  9. How often is too often to bathe a dog?

    Dog Grooming Forum
mudypony: Thanks for the suggestion, I think the orange essential oil listed on the website would probably break me out with my fragrance allergies. I can't use anything artificial, but if its botanical or like 100% natural I can use it. Its really hit or miss on me. I'll have to see if I can...
  10. How often is too often to bathe a dog?

    Dog Grooming Forum
PatriciafromCO: Kayla is severely allergic to cats, mold, dust mites, grain mites, bluegrass (which I have in the backyard now) cedar... i know there's more but without pulling out the sheet I'm not able to pinpoint. She's currently getting immunotherapy for those allergens in shot form. DH is...
  11. How often is too often to bathe a dog?

    Dog Grooming Forum
Oops, sorry guess I wasn't clear enough. I'd be washing my dog more often because she would be with me at my brother's home where the 3 other dogs are at. So she will have traces of their fur/dander on her coat which will effect my husband's allergies. In response to the good brushing is also...
  12. How often is too often to bathe a dog?

    Dog Grooming Forum
I've been trying to research how often is "too often" and I'm getting conflicting answers online. My Vet said I could go as long as washing her every 3 months, but didn't tell me how often is too often. I have a 1 year sheepdog poodle mix (sheepadoodle) and a husband with animal allergies. We...
  13. Indestructible Squeaker Toy Update

    General Dog Forum
Lol we need any type of indestructible toy regardless of squeak or not. In our home if it has stuffing its going to be de-stuffed its just a matter of is it gonna take a day, week, or month. If there's a squeaker, Kayla: I'll squeak the entire time your watching a movie, don't worry Mom your...
  14. When to switch from puppy to adult food?

    Dog Food Forum
My pup is just over 8 months old, my Vet told me to swap within the next month or two. Currently I have like 5lbs of her old puppy food (Kirkland) and I was transitioning her to Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy... so when the TotW gets to about 5lbs I'll start incorporating the TotW High...
  15. Collapsible Silicone Travel Bowls

    Dog Food Forum
Does anyone have a recommendation on collapsible silicon travel water/food bowls. Or a reason why their good/bad? History: For a while Kayla was refusing to eat. I'd put her bowl down and she'd have no interest, I'd pull it up after 15 minutes of her not eating, and not feed her (breakfast)...
  16. Fragrance Free Shampoo Recommendation (Groomer from hell)

    Dog Grooming Forum
Thanks for the suggestion Caro. I actually have a go-bag packed for Kayla right now, including food, water, bowls for each, poo bags, and extra leash (the ones with no collar required as a precaution.) I'll incorporate the shampoo/conditioner so its always around since I'm likely to forget...

Thanks! If your groomer isn't available I hope you find a new one soon that makes both you and Kabota happy.
  18. Fragrance Free Shampoo Recommendation (Groomer from hell)

    Dog Grooming Forum
Amaryllis: I'm so sorry to hear that you have the same challenges I do. Although its nice to have someone that understands and can relate, I'd never wish this on anyone EVER. Thanks for the encouragement to find another groomer as well. I do 95% of Kayla's care at home myself for this reason...
  19. Fragrance Free Shampoo Recommendation (Groomer from hell)

    Dog Grooming Forum
Sorry for the late comments, my husband and I celebrated (kinda) our 8 year wedding anniversary and I was unplugged (from the computer) for day. Samwise: I'll try that tip about the thinning of the conditioner. I thin down her shampoo as is, the bottle even says I can use a ratio of 1 shampoo...
  20. Fragrance Free Shampoo Recommendation (Groomer from hell)

    Dog Grooming Forum
Remaru: Thank you for the suggestion, that's actually something I'm already doing for her, she has her own 6 oz jar, and in my hair too! Its part of her weekly routine of bath > towel dry. We then move up to the grooming table and apply coconut oil on coat and she licks the remainder off of my...
