No, not really. But he's just so pretty. I'm up to my ears in dogs...I can't really handle another one.

Can I? My BF would go nuts on me...all I do is work the dogs..I don't think I have the emotional energy to get another one trained into the routine.

This one is gorgeous too...wish I had a lot of land, a huge house, lots of money and no job...then I could possibly handle it.

LOL! I am like you. My DH already banned me from looking at rescue websites. We are most likely getting a third dog next year (or I can sense sometimes around XMAS!), I would love to have another dog. But I am having second thoughts about it half the time. The other half is spent thinking how much fun it'll be to have one more, the other half is spent thinking how are my boys gunna react to a third dog? I have yet to have problems with my boys, I absolutely love every minute I spend with them. But what if the third dog changes everything? What if the boys dont get along with the new dog? I dont want to put myself into that position. Like others, I see myself saying "rehoming" is not an option. I know I can handle the training part. But dogs are like human in some ways, they meet dogs that they just cant get along with. So many what ifs, which makes me wonder if I am ready for a third dog.

Whenever Abel looks at me when the thought of getting a third dog is playing in my head, I feel like he is asking me "Why mommy, me and Cain aren't good enough to make you happy?" It just tears me up inside. If we do get a third dog, I want myself to be prepared. I want to make sure I am able to give all three of them quality time.

SO YOU MnC, I suggest avoiding looking at rescue websites for now until you know you are emotionally ready and prepared to get one (I know its hard, I still occasionally look at some of them!). Stop teasing yourself. They all look pretty and handsome, no doubt about that.

Re: dont look, dont look..shoot i looked

Mudra, I saw you say something about a third dog in another post. A third dog IS GOING to change everything. Take note of my situation...and REALLY think about getting a third. I had it nice and easy with just Mac'n'Roe...it really was just sooooo easy. Now, it's not easy.

Now, everyday I wonder about my decision. I LOVE Gabi, don't get me wrong. But I daily think about if it would be better for her to be with another family as the only dog. It puts a stress on our relationship to say the least. Then, we have good day.

Gabi is a GREAT dog..and she's actually very good with Roe. She and Mac now are having issues which is interesting enough. It's a daily struggle, which I don't like admitting. It's exhausting...because I feel like I'm constantly trying to avoid a fight between them. I'm getting there though, knowing what they can handle..and what they can't. All three in the backyard playing...NOT A CHANCE. All three in the backyard going potty..yes, IF I actively manage Gabi and Mac not to initiate play. Sometimes, it doesn't work..and I'm a stressball trying to get it all under control.

Anyway, I would just REALLY take time to consider a third, it's a whole different ballgame. I, personally, would advise against it...strictly on the experience I'm going through. However, I may come out of this beautifully. We are getting there..just know it's (probably) not going to be easy ..

and I should quit looking at the sites.

EDIT: Perhaps I'm still stressing about the past incident. Seems like I stuck them in the backyard for playtime quite enough before this happened and all was fine. It's really not as bad as I make it out to be..they are great with each other 90% of the time. But, I think Mac and Gabi are still "working it out" at this point. Gabi has some low aggression issues that I'm still figureing out.
