    Pooping and heat question.

    A few questions:

    1) Today Belle was constipated for awhile before she finally passed a huge, hard poop. We were worried about her...she was squatting and her but was huge for the longest time before it finally came out. Is there anything we can do to soften her stool? She only eats puppy chow.

    2) Belle is 8 months old...when will she go into heat?

    Thanks!!

    1) try some canned pumpkin (make sure its PURE pumkin, not pie filling) this also works to rid diarrhea.

    2) all different breeds and different dogs go into heat at different times. Without knowing any of that its hard to tell. My suggestion, get her spayed BEFORE that happens

Canned pumpkin, will get some this weekend when I go to the store, thanks

After some research and speaking to people...we have decided to let her heat once before we spay And she is a 8 month old labrador.

    Um... canned pumpkin FIRMS stools.

I would recommend switching her to a better quality food, frankly. If money's the issue, Kirkland (from Costco) is VERY inexpensive and MUCH better, but even Canidae would be goood.
