First, relax a little. Many dogs are skittish and fearfull when they are introduced to a new home. Add the surgry she has just undergone and she won't be feeling up to much activity.

Make sure she has a quite place of her own to relax in to get used to the sights and sounds of her new surondings, spend quite time with her so so she gets used to you.

You could try feeding her from your hand, some dogs respond well to this as it allows them to associate you as the provider and start to develop some trust.

Paitients is the key right now.

Relax, give her time, give yourself time, spend time together in a positive way. She'll get hungry, thirsty, tired; give her food, water, a place to lay down. Be calm, take things in stride, be positive and the trust will follow.

How long ago was the spay surgery? I'm not sure, but maybe she needs a trip back to the vet if she's throwing up.

One of my dogs was spayed and she acted how your describing for the first few days. Shes probably ok. If she yacks up again tho, i'd take her back to the vet.

Is the incision red, have discharge or anything?

Ah, now I see! My pup was spayed in June. It was very difficult for her to walk right after. We were told only to give her little drinks of water, and little amounts of food the next day. I also had to check her temp. the next morning - first time I ever did that!

And i understand why your's wouldn't want to eat a treat. I bet she'll be up and around in no time. Just try to keep her from licking the stitches. That can be a problem for some dogs.

    wait longer...

she doesn't know the routine yet so its not odd that she doesn't want to go outside. She doesn't understand whats going on yet. If it were my dog, i'd let her sleep.

If a dog needed to they could go a week with no food. Ever see the emaciated dogs on animal cop shows? They just go to show how long a dog can go without food.

They wouldn't have fed her before surgery. The drugs they use would make her puke.

If the dog is drinking water, your probably ok.

Btw congrats on adopting. When the dog feels better you have to post pictures.

Yes, Congrats.! Thanks for adopting a shelter dog.
Though, when others thank me for taking a shelter pup, I always feel that I'm lucky to have her.

Don't let her eat too much right away. small meals right now.
She's still not walking at all?
