We'd like to get a bed for Jack; he's a great big ol' pup. Probably weighs around 50 pounds at 5 and 1/2 months. Do any of you use those "off-the-floor" beds, the cot-type? If so, do you like it?
We're thinking about this kind because it's so hot here and will be for a couple more months. Even in the winter it won't get really very cold nor stay cold for long. Anyway, we thought this would be cooler for him. He lives in the house with us, but in this kind of weather even with A/C it's almost 80 in the house in the afternoons.
Any other suggestions for us to look at?

I have big dogs - and I've found a type of dog bed I am so happy with - its a plastic bed something like this:
Reason I like it is that its easy to clean - no place for the fleas to hide - it has ventilation holes in the bottom, and is slightly raised from the ground so there is good air circulation. Nothing much for them to chew either.
I put a blanket in the bottom, not a cushion, because thats easy to pop in the wash every week. Fleas are an issue over here!
I would imagine this is as cool as the type of bed you describe...
