    Hi Henner,
This sounds like its only a matter of intent. What I mean is, your pup doesn't believe you when you ask for an action. You have to look at how you're asking your dog to get off the bed. Are you smiling and laughing because your pup is just so cute or are frustrated, or are you calm and serious about what you want? Most times all you have to do is project yourself as confident and powerful yet calm, gently grab your dog by the collar, and lead him to her bed. Block her and signal her back to her bed if she gets up. Repetition may be necessary. Does you dog know a long down-stay? If she's unwilling to feed off your energy, more discipline through obedience/manners training is necessary. Any time your pup does something against your rules, she's questioning your authority...meaning you're not projecting yourself as the pack leader. Let us know how it goes.

curbside is correct. I am a complete weenie when it comes to letting my dane on the bed. If hubby isn't there (he used to work swing shift) she gets up and stays, and it takes several tries to get her off and to stay off. and it is my own fault for not only encouraging it, but by not being firm about getting her out. ( I ldon't mind that large presence when he is gone). Ken, on the other hand, only has to walk in the room and she is off that bed like a bullet out of a gun.

Sometimes dogs do not follow our rules simply because they do not understand what we want. If she was questioning your authority she probably wouldn't have gotten off the bed in the first place despite your pushing. To me, it seems that she doesn't understand that you wish for her to stay off the bed. I can see how she might be confused now after being allowed on the bed for the past 6 months.

Make sure she has a bed of her own nearby to lay in. Tell her "off" and then use your body to take her space so that she jumps off herself. Encourage her to go to her bed. Then watch her closely so that you can use your body to block her from getting on the bed again. As Curbside stated, you will probably have to repeat this several times before she gets the idea so you may want to start practicing before bedtime.

Definately stay consistent in your asking her not to get on the bad. If you don't, you will never be taken seriously. Teach her "off" and jackpot her when she is laying down somewhere on the floor or in her own bed. I had the same problem with my GSD and it only took about 2 days to get him to learn he isn't allowed on the bed.
