    Hi there,
please could you tell me if I could use S-Adenosyl instead of Zentonil Advanced - they appear to have similar ingredients however the former is a quarter of the price.
    Thanks,

    Hi McDavis,

To be perfectly frank, I legally cannot tell you to switch your pet's medications from one to the other. That is going to have to be something that you discuss with your veterinarian.

However, I will tell you that Sam-E is a well-known supplement for both animals and humans and it does contain the basic same ingredients as the Zentonil you're using now. Added in the Sam-E are other things like extra amino acids, antioxidants, and methionine -- a specific amino acid found in meat and sunflower seeds. It also has analgesic (pain relieving) properties that Zentonil doesn't.

The reason it is cheaper than your prescribed drug is because the Sam-E is not FDA-approved for pets, even though many vets recommend it.

Here is my suggestion. Do some online research (I'll give you a link below), and discuss supplementing with the Sam-E to see what your vet has to say.
Ask if they can advise you whether to supplement or completely switch over. http://www.vetrxdirect.com/product/view/s-adenosyl

As it stands, I'm sorry to say, that really is the only advice I can give you without possibly losing my certification.

    Hope this helps a little,

    Cate RVT
