Thread: Gunea pigs.

My guinea pigs keep me SOO busy. Having two really ups the poop factor so I spend a lot of money on litter. I think I will swich to fleece bedding and vacum it every day and wash it every week. Does any one have guinea pigs?

That would be nice for her. I read somewhere that guinea pigs are herd animals and like the company of another guinea pig.

I have 2 Guinea Pigs too! One is an Adult( Cinnamon) And the other is a baby( Caremel) And the baby has a collection of poop! Just wondering, is it to late to reply?

I also hav a Guinea Pig! Her name is Lucy and she is around....three, maybe? She was a rescue from a neglect situation, so I don't know for sure. When my old Cavy, Chum, died at the age of five, I just had to have another squeaker in my life. Low and behold if someone from my mom's work was trying to get rid of a Guinea Pig!
Lucy is the sweetest, but she is so fat! I don't know what to do to slim her down. I'm only feeding her about 1/4 a cup of food a day and I just bought her a good size cage (4'x2') so she can run, but yeash! The fat is just litterally rolling off of her. I think it has something to do with her being fed cat food before we got her, but I'm not sure.

YES and YES!!!! My sis is tired for taking care of her 2 poop masters.

I no longer have a guinea pig, but Hedwig was a lovely girl when she was alive! The friend that gave her to me said she was 1 1/2 to 2 years and then I had her for 5 years! We think she was around seven year old when she passed away (which I've heard is old for guinea pigs!) but she was very sweet and playful. I don't think I will ever get another one, but I loved her to bits!

I am a tad bit late, but...
I had two guinea pigs about a year and half ago.

I hated useing shavings and they gave one of my piglets an upper reperitory infection from the dust. I switched over to fleece and OMG what a nice change. I had to sweep it out once a day with just a little dust pan and wash the fleece once-twice a week. It was much nicer to look at, sleep on and easier to clean.

I put puppy pads under the fleece and used tape to hold it down and bricks to hld the fleece down so it actually stuck in place.





They liked sleeping on the fleece much more than bedding. Toup'e was never sick again.

I have piggies too!!!!!! They are in my siggy. Here are some pigs of them and their cage.

Their names are Chewie and Charlie, chewie is the brown aby and charlie is the tri mixed breed.

There cage is a 2x6 c&c cage which I am switching to fleece TODAY!!! WhooHoo I cant wait I am sooooo Excited! The little half grid part is because there is normally a ramp down unto the floor but it was not there because I had friends over.(normally they have roam of my room)

Teddie x Ruxpin- how do you like the bright colored fleece, I would love to get colors like that but alot of people say they show poos really good. How is yours in that department?

I have never tried carefresh for my pigs because of the price, it'd cost me like $30 per cage change but I use it for my hamster.

I no longer have them, but I really didn't mind the bright colors. If anything they helped me make sure I cleaned them all up. I used puppy pads under the fleece that way it didn't soak all the way through to the bottom.

I'm not sure if you're thinking of the right kind of fleece. Fleece is a material you can buy at stores like Joan's and fabric shops. You find blankets, pillows etc. made out of fleece.

That’s a big cage!! Nothing but the best.
