    Game of Thrones

just wanted to see if there was any fans of Game of Thrones. Finished watching all the TV series seasons, and now making my way through the books ... sorta went backwards in the books but going back over them since they audio books.. Back through book 1 and then to " A knight of the Seven Kingdoms " which I haven't listen to yet...

Thoughts discussions , projected therioes of what is to come or about the individual characters..

I personally think John Snow and Tyran (sp) are dragon blood decedents... especially Tyran that his mom had an affair.. and was born like Denari killing their mothers in child birth...

    Re: Game of Thrones

    Tyrion is the spelling

I started reading GoT in 2000 (when the third book came out), when I was 13 years old. Which now strikes me as too young to be reading that series. Haha. Oh well. My parents weren't known for their strict limits on my media consumption.

I reread books 1-3 when 4 came out, then 1-4 when 5 came out, so I'd say I'm a fan

I'm kind of sad about the tv show. I would have preferred to finish the series and THEN watch the show. But since I started watching the show in the middle of the book series, my thoughts and perceptions of characters have really been changed. Like, I tremendously disliked John Snow in the books, but then started watching the show and I think the actor is super hot and added a lot of depth to the character, so now I like him in the books (shallow, I know). I don't hate Cersei as much in the tv show as I do in the books. I like Tyrion more all around. I love Brienne in both mediums.

I also think Tyrion is likely a descendant of the Targaryens.

If anyone is a GoT fan like me and dying for other things to read while book 6 is on the way, I have a list, I just don't want to corrupt this thread!

Thanks Hiraeth You and everyone is welcome to add anything they want to the thread. for GT. or other things that yall feel is interesting I love to hear from others to pick up all the details I might of missed..

Must of been awkward seeing the TV characters after you imagined them from reading the books. It was the books that gave me a better impression of John Snow because it gave more detail conversations he has had with other characters, like the whole privileged Btard talk and how the others did not grow up privileged and how that changed JS's .

    Re: Game of Thrones

Ahhhh I love GoT. My friend and her brother got me hooked. I won't lie, I need to finish reading the books. I haven't had time, but am hoping to pick them back up this winter or spring.

I love Daenerys, Tyrion, John Snow...gosh the list is long. As long as my list of characters I hate haha. I was SO shocked by the ending of the last season, but then of course calmed myself down and figured out what is REALLY going to happen. It was just the initial brief shock where I went, "WHAT?!"

I always liked John Snow, but I actually think I like him less in the show. I'm not sure why exactly, because I 100% agree the actor is hot and does a great job with him...but there is just something I don't like quite as much as the books. Also, Bran never showed up in this past season, did he? I mean I was never that big on his storyline but it was strange he just kind of disappeared. Unless I missed something.

And I agree about John and Tyrion being dragon blood descendents.

Also, I highly recommend looking up the GoT/Let it Go song. I think its "Let it Go(T)". Hilarious! And I would love to hear some other book recommendations!

    Re: Game of Thrones

Really love the audio books done really well by the guy who reads them.. am very dyslectic especially for sci fi type books where they make up words that are not common words that I can just assume and anticipate to read through on them. TV series was close to spot on to Book one. was listening on Audio book and watching the TV seasons with the sound off. lol ... Then it starts to spread out in the later seasons changing characters in different places. Happy to have the books to fill in the gaps and still appreciate the TV series for the visual experience since it would be too over load and distracting trying to fit in every detail and every character that are in the books and still tie them all together in a way that was easy to follow long term in a TV series.

DH got me hooked on the TV series since itunes offer them. and I will try to pick up the correct spelling of the characters as we go along.

My favorite part of ohhhh awww is "cold hands" that the Stark family line is very special ... looking forward to what I find reading through "A knight of the Seven Kingdoms"

feel for the author.... NO PRESSURE RIGHT !!! to get the next book out lol ...

Love GOT! Husband and I are hooked. We find it hard to follow sometimes. I have a vision problem so hard for me to read a lot. Wish I had time for the audio books.

    Re: Game of Thrones

glad to see others really enjoy the story and where it may go in the future I love using the audio books, especially since I don't have time to sit still during the day.. Today am doing tractor work, moving pallets around for a load of hay coming.. nice to listen to the audio book as I am working on the property , doing chores, or sitting doing my crafts .... yes I do get distracted and have to re listen from time to time lol ... it's nice to listen along. audible.com has a nice app for getting around a book and I use head phones instead of the ear buds.. just more comfortable and the head phones seem to keep the outside noise out really well..

Liking the current listen : A knight of the seven kingdoms : it has "Egg" mesters Amens little brother.. as a main character and am not sure if Tanzi is the same as Katlyns father was calling out on his death bead or anything to do with that... there is so much to follow along with especially little brief mentions of characters in different timelnes. I like it, like putting together timelines and connections... Ask me anything about Revenge TV series about events and characters little odd tid bits that isn't directly mentioned but can be put to a date, timeline, and year.. lol lol..

you guys!! aparently the translator who did the other GOT books has been told to 'save some time at the end of 2015'. that means possibly an early 2016 Winds of Winter. pardon me while I die over here from excitement.

I really love the books (am working my way through via a mixture of reading and listening to the audio books on my really long commute to and from work). I really enjoy the show as well but sometimes get confused or forget if things from the books actually took place in the show and how some characters relate to each other because they have different levels of knowledge of each other in the books vs. the show. Either way, can't wait for the next season (and hopefully the next book)!

Yes it is!! The only thing saving me is that I'm partway through book 5. Once that is done I'll be really sad and way more impatient!

no I didn't see it !!! I'll go look for it... Figured I would get a better story doing the Audio only listening to the one character's chapters all the way through the book. Learned so much more that I didn't catch before...

Wow, that's such an interesting idea! I never thought of that! I do, however, like going back and listening to the books over again because, you're right, you learn so much more. There are things that just passed over my head the first time but looking back, once you know what happens later, you can think, oh that was what was going on!!

it really helped me, I'm so easily distracted. lol I am always waiting for the weather report to come on for the local news, and that is the time one of the dogs do something and I completely miss the weather and have to sit through more news to get it lol .. I did the 1-2 Books of just Bran , got all the details of the brother and sister and their family history going back to the Children and that they were at Winterfeld for the harvest feast and also hiding in the tombs with them...

LOL got time before April to get everything absorbed to be satisfied
