I can't wait until it comes out!! I'm so so curious about how things will progress in the book since they have moved past Book 5 in the show... will it match up? I know they have already strayed in many areas (including people being alive or dead, whole characters cut out, etc.) so I'm sure there will continue to be differences but the larger story line I'm assuming will be similar at least..... but I just can't wait to read it!

yes excited but very much confused. There are sooooo many characters still alive in the excerpt, And more Tygarens (s) running around with dragons ???? with Dani still in slavers bay no one knowing if she has or has not dragons for sure.....

Do you think Branden had something to do with past and present being in the same place???

I don't know!! But some of my favorite parts of the last season was Bran's time travel.... I hope they do more of that!

I have a feeling that George R. R. Martin has pretty much given up on writing the novels in favour of writing (or assisting with) the TV screenplays.

The next book is suppose to be out after next TV season is over...
there is this floating around for speculation.. of whats to come for season 7 TV series.... https://www.ablogofthrones.com/what-...mpaign=ABoT-FB

It doesn't excite me at all... especially with only 7 episodes... long drawn out fight scenes are not my thing.. seems like they forcing towards getting to an ending for the TV series... ???? which doesn't make sense..

March 2017 for book 6 release... not sure if it's a real "leak information" or not.. I hope so...

if you have read the books.. I am having trouble with the audio version.. Feast of crows has Jon sending Sam and Gilley with the little prince and Amen out of castle black to save them from being burned and they were completely gone .. but when I started A Dance with Dragons.. They have Jon talking to Sam and to Gilley and seeing them off (again) at Castle Black? Is there something wrong with the Audio Book... There is no reference of Stanis finding out that Amen is gone, and the little prince baby was switched.??

No, if I remember correctly they kind of do flashbacks from the previous book. If you have the paper copies, Martin explains in an author's note that A Dance with Dragons is during the same time frame as Feast of Crows, just more focused on different characters.

That makes sense that it's a flash back... Feast of Crows ending was Sam at the citidel talking telling one of the high Meisters everything.. Thanks

Because the books have so many independent story lines going, the events in books 3 & 4 are, in a large part, occurring at the same time. Not really flashbacks so much as they focus on different story lines (although they don't have perfect overlap).

Wow, I'm super behind on this forum but yes, it's the same in the books as the audio version! I'm pretty sad I have finished all of the books... waiting for the next!

me too !!!! What gets me excited and has my interest in the books is Kaytlen (stoneheart) brought back from death with the breath of fire.... That she judges Brie-ann and tells her to go kill Jamie or die.... and ends up hanging Brie-ann for not wanting to go kill Jamie... That just blows my mind...... every time ... wish there was more and can't wait for the next book...

What is everyone's favorite part or character story line....

Still keeping busy... current audio book is "Winter is Coming" Symbols and Hidden Meanings in A Game of Thrones by Valerie Estelle Franked so far really well presented, nice topic content and explanations, quoting from book and TV series and gives where you can find it in the book or episode.

Whoo hoo! Count me as another fan who has been watching the show, and then started reading the books. Let the countdown begin!

As of now I'm only though the first (A Game of Thrones) but A Clash of Kings is on my nightstand, ready to go. Having seen the show beforehand, and having some idea how things were going to shake down in the first book in NO WAY detracted from how enjoyable reading the book was! This is a series that I have physical books for, not just Kindle versions ^_^

OMG always picking up new things from the books... Arya during one of her wolf dreams inside Nymiria while she was with the Dog after fleeing the red wedding.. She was really wanting to go back to get her mother hoping her mother was still alive. Arya fell asleep thinking about her mother then went into dream mode in her wolf that she could smell her mother and was following the scent. Nymiria went into the river and pulled Katlyn's body out and to the shore. Then the Brotherhood came galloping up and Nymiria ran away, Arya knew her mother was dead after that.

Yes, I think the 2 are the same faceless man. Glad I'm not the only one with that theory.

(Btw I'm a huge GoT fan. My cat's name is Tyrion. When we took Rascal to his vet's for the first time - they asked us why we didn't name him Hodor?)
