I have a one year old shepherd mix that is an outdoor dog. She has a nice dog house on our coverd patio. The problem is, she keeps pulling out her dog bed and rips it apart. She has done this to two beds now. I don't want her sleeping on the concrete, but I can't afford to supply her with beds that she is only going to destroy. Any suggestions?
Well, she could be telling you she isn't happy sleeping outside....
But one option would be a thick rubber mat, you can buy them at Wal-Mart/Target in the gym/sports section. They are like tiles that you can fit a few together to get the right size. They'd be softer then concrete or wood and insulating against cold.
More likely that she is bored, and is making her own fun.
One of mine is bed destroyer type, I think she just loves ripping up fuzzy stuff to be honest. She'll do it to most mats or stuffed toys so I can't really leave any around when she is in the house and I'm gone.
You could just put straw or something else down for her.
