    Military Crawl

Sometimes when Maddie is told to stay, she will slowly creep away by doing a military crawl when she thinks nobody's looking--even though sometimes we're looking right at her and even say something to her. We say "Maddie, we told you to stay" and she looks up with her puppy dog eyes at us like "who me? But I didnt want to stay. And I didnt move...."

Dont know if that's just a Maddie thing, or a all-dog thing.

Stay is a hard thing for dogs to do, especially a Sit Stay. For extended stays like the Down it helps to put the dog in a really comfortable position...laying on their side/head on the floor....nap time.

The Stay position is often reinforced with praise and treats while in the Stay position. For creeping (which is usually towards the handler) the treat is placed behind the dog. That way, the reward doesn't comes from behind...not the front.

And I bet it's hard not to laugh at her too. I had a dog who would be sent under the bed if she was bad. She would creep out of the bedroom a little at a time, as if I couldn't see her. I would tell her to get back and she would race under the bed. In a few seconds I would let her come out. It would always make me laugh but I couldn't let her hear me!

even creeping is breaking. Just put her back. :P

I had a bitch who used to drag her butt around during the sit stay because she wanted to break but knew she had to "sit" so she just drug all around the place.

It was highly entertaining but very annoying.

haha, that is entertaining, but imagine her dirty butt all over your floor.
It's like that carpet commercial, if anyone's seen it. This kid calls out to his mom about their dogs new trick...dog is scooting butt along floor. She screeches "TOBY!!!!!"...

She gets put back in her sit/stay after-we got that covered. Just curious on if other dogs do it, too-finding out they do....

Smalls does this! She will seriously make her way across a room, pulling along with her front feet on her belly while her back legs drag behind her. I'll be sitting on my lap top and out of the corner of my eye catch her slowly making her way across the room LOL.
