I'd much rather give my dog something else I bet those people are making a lot of money off of that idea on people who think their dogs need beer.

My bf has given actual beer to the dogs before (just sips)...Eddie just sneezes and won't drink it...Uallis will now beg for it...he's a wannabe drunk, I think. I've thought about getting Uallis some of the non-alcoholic beer since he likes the taste of beer so much but I've never gotten around to it.

My mom used to have a dog when she was a kid that was extremely hyper. Her parents used to give the dog beer every night to make the dog relax enough to go to sleep. But for me, and I have a very hyper dog, I'd rather not have him stumbling around drunk just to calm him down, I'd rather let him out to run for an hour to burn off his energy...lol

One of my female Rotties years ago learned how to pop open a can of beer with her teeth and then it would spray out and she would lap it up. Obviously I never gave her beer but if she was anywhere around it I had to watch her because she loved it. She also NEVER opened cans of soda. I guess Rotties are really smart, they know what they want. Hm, maybe she could read. Either way, I think given the chance she may also have been an alcoholic. NO BEER for my dogs. LOL

He would probably die from Kidney and Liver failure.

Dogs dont metabolize alcohol very well at all, because the kidneys and liver cant handle it to well. Give them some beef or chicken broth instead (that was all directed at everyone, not you Mdawn)

It is certainly possible SLK...I'm not sure what this dog died from though...I assumed old age...but who knows? It was a dog my mom had when she was a kid. So I don't know...When my mom was a kid (50's) they didn't think of things like that...they knew the dog calmed down when he drank beer so they gave the dog beer...It's not something that she would do today or even something that she even did herself...it was just a story she told me about...

    Meh, overpriced gimmick.

The last dog I lived with hated the smell of beer, or any alcoholic beverages (maybe because his 'dad', my ex- was often a jerk when he was drunk!?).

But Chester lapped up a little puddle of spilled beer outside a couple weeks ago and kept looking at us for more - it was pretty funny. I think he likes it.

I'll just stick with water for him though. The beer is mine, dog! And don't even think about going after my good scotch!

Last year, I took my dog to a friend's pig roast. I put him on a long leash to let him roam and let people pet him. I had pinned a sign on the back of a harness he wore saying, 'I know you think it's funny to feed my dog beer or pork, but i'll be laughing later when i let him puke on your shoes.' Needless to say, he didn't get anything much besides sniping some potato salad off of some guy's plate.

LOL! Why not? Isn't it going to be fun if both are drunk?

A dog we had when I was little loved beer. He would steal open bottles and cans and sneak away with them and drink them. We had to put him in another room for parties because he would swipe everyone's beer.
