What does my Collie look like he is mixed with?

Hello everybody. I've been reading the forums for a while now...lots of good information that has helped a lot with my Collie. I haven't been able to quite figure out what he is mixed with, though. I adopted him from a rescue shelter, where they told me he was mixed with Husky...but I just don't see it. I'm about 90% sure he is not the least bit Husky. I was thinking more along the lines of a Collie/German Shepherd mix. Any opinions/thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Here are some images of him (two are of him at 2 months old and one is at 5 months:

Almost looks like a Newfie and Border collie mix, but its so difficult to tell. If you google it, a few of the pups look similar though.

Could also be lab though.. Or more than two breeds. You just never know with mixes.

My dog for example. As a pup I thought Newfie mix as well. As an adult though, she looks almost identical to a Flatcoated retriever. Our best guess now is Flatcoated and GSD mix.

    Newfie as well.

    Possibly Labador,or GSD.

Don't see the husky in there.

Out of curiosity, did they tell you she was mixed with husky because it was their best guess, or had they actually seen the mom? I know we've had litters before at the shelter that looked NOTHING like their mothers, who we also had on site. Honestly, some I would have never believed if I hadn't known it to be true myself.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I hadn't even thought of him being part Newfie but I can see it now.

Ireth0, I never asked how she knew. I'm not the least bit disappointed or anything, I could care less if he was Husky or part alien, I just thought he was adorable.

What I'm seeing the most in him is German Shepherd, Collie, and definitely some Newfie now.

Newf was my first thought when looking at the young puppy pictures but the older picture makes me think Lab. So hard to tell with mixes because you never know which traits they get from which parent! How old is he and what does he weigh? Also check his paws for larger webbing like most labs have, that's a pretty easy tell if it's a lab mix. Our Pry/lab mix hassle webbing like labs do. Either way the pup is gorgeous and being border collie means a great temperament and disposition

He weighs about 30lbs at just about 5 months old. His toes are in fact webbed! I guess I never noticed under all his fluff haha.

Re: What does my Collie look like he is mixed with?

honestly webbed feet does not actually mean much, webbed feet is common in border collies, one of my purebred BCs has fully webbed toes..funnily enough its NOT my water addicted one lol.

I don't have any idea's at this stage, puppies change a lot lol

Re: What does my Collie look like he is mixed with?

I had a puppy who looked a lot like that many years ago. I met both parents. The Mom was a Golden Retriever and the Dad was a Black Lab. My pup was unfortunately stolen before he reached a year old.

You have a very cute puppy!
