my dog has a lack of appetite!!

This is my dilemma my dog doesn't like to eat dog food!! I mean I tried everything all kinds of brands he just doesn't like it. I don't know what to do he'll eat it when he's really really hungry but thats about it. He'll take two mouths full in a day and thats it. I have a mini schnauzer he is going to turn 1 yr old on Halloween. I had him since he was a puppy never gave problems until now. This has been going on for about 4 months. The Vet said he just got tired of dog food and it happens. He told me to buy new flavors and I did but it doesn't help.

I was wondering if you guys ran thru this problem and what did you guys do??

There is a product called Nutrical it is supposed to stimulate the dog's appetite so that they will feel hungry and eat more.

Thanks Ill take a look at it. Do you think his lack of appetite is from something more serious like a disease or something?? I was reading about heart worm can that be the case?? Thx for the attention!

As a rule worms usually cause an increase in appetite without any weight gain.
Has the vet checked him for any parasites? If not I would suggest that he does get tested for parasites and well as for any underlining disorder he may have.
Some dogs do tend to eat less especially during the summer months .But I would have him get a complete checkup just to rule out anything serious

Yeah he's been checked.. He is fine the doc say he just picky, I mean if you give him a cookie or if gets hold of a piece of bread he will eat all of it. He just doesn't eat dog food.. I tried mixing those canned foods with dry food, he'll eat for about a week and that he gets tired of it.. I mean I tried everything from different flavors every other day but he doesn't seen to like it.

He never had a problem with diarrhea, vomiting or any other problems my friends had with their dogs!!

Well I would get some of that Nutrical and see how that works out then.
I am glad to hear that he is healthy and just picky.
I have never known a dog to starve themselves to death,so dont give in to his wanting other food.Stick with a good quality dog food and offer that to him.
If he doesnt eat it after 20 minutes,then take it away and offer it to him later on.Soon he will realize that the ONLY food available to him is what is being offered and he WILL eat it.Good luck with your dog and keep us updated on how he is doing
