    is my bitch pregnant

hi other than a scan is there any other way you can tell a bitch is pregnant ,

my bitch tied for 15/20 mins 3 weeks ago this sunday ,

Last year she sadly went through a false pregnancy and im little worried this could happen again,

However this time she is acting differant she is clingy but then again she always has been ,
she is always cleaning her bits so much so im tellin her to stop lol .
    Picky with her food ,

just want to be prepared if she is pregnant.

Anyone got any ideas other than a scan

    thank you

Do you want her to be pregnant? Take her to a vet and get an emergency spay. There are millions of unwanted dogs killed every year, don't add to the problem.

An ultrasound or Xray is the only way to tell at this point. A little farther along, a vet will be able to palpate and decide. By then you should be able to tell from her shape.

Hey, how come nobody's selling a dog at home pregnancy test? They'd make a fortune. Everyone would use one before going to the vet. I doubt you could use a human one on a dog.

Get an emergency spay before it's too late.

If you are asking here, I'm guessing you don't have a mentor breeder. If you don't have a mentor breeder, you are likely a backyard breeder. If so, GET THE BITCH SPAYED! This world does not need more poorly bred dogs!

    Re: is my bitch pregnant

I think you miss the point. It does not matter if you find good homes for the puppies, you are still contributing to the problem, which is having so many irresponsible breeders. Breeding dogs that are not tested extensively for hereditary diseases can create dogs that die at young ages or live a life of pain. My neighbor has a year old american bull dog and he has hip dyspepsia. Now because of someones irresponsible breeding that poor dog will live the rest of his life likely in pain. A general health check up does not mean your dog is worthy to breed.

I understand the argument that everyone might not want a pure bred or a expensive dog, but dogs will never cease to end up in the shelter so there is no reason to breed unnecessarily. Please get your dog in for an emergency spay. It is the responsible thing to do, for her and the pups.
