My dog wont sleep through the night!

My puppy won't sleep throught the night
Hello! I have a BEAUTIFUL 41/2 month old American Bulldog puppy, she is wonderful and we love her soooo much!

She has been such a wonderful addition to our family...the only issue...SHE WON'T SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!

We go to bed around 10pm and wake up around 7am during the week. She sleeps in bed with my myself, my wife and our 2 smaller dogs. When she was smaller she would wake us up 1-2 times in the middle of the night because she had to go potty and then have a hard time going back to sleep if it was past 3am. To avoid sleep deprivation we have been letting her stay outside when we take her out the first time she wakes up but I don't like doing that!! I want her to be with us and sleep in a big comfy bed not a kennel!

    ANY SUGGESTIONS?!!

If her sleeping in bed isn't working, you may have to resort to a crate. You can't leave her outside that long unsupervised...it isn't safe for her.

Try crating her in another room. Maybe let her sleep with you for the first part of the night and then crate her for the last half. That way you can get back to sleep and she is safe in a crate.

Maybe when she gets older you can transition her back to your bed.

    Good luck.

She and my other two dogs have access to the outside ALLLLLL DAAAAAY LOOOONG and also access to the inside -- the doggie door leads to their crate -- they haven't had any issues with it ever.

I know a lot of people are for crating their dogs but I just don't agree with it. I don't want them locked in a small space for 8-10 hours a day :-/

Well, if what you are doing isn't working, you have to try something else. Obviously, this isn't working and you asked for other alternatives beside what you were doing.

Crates are not cruel. They keep your puppy safe. Giving your puppy access outside when she cannot be supervised can be dangerous. She can be stolen, eat something, escape, etc.

If you don't want a crate, try setting up a safe room for her. A bathroom, laundry room, etc.
