I have a large hazelnut tree in my yard, and it has been dropping its hazelnuts in my yard for the past couple of weeks (joy!). Dakota has become very proficient at gently cracking the shells and eating the nut inside.

What I'm finding online indicates hazelnuts are not toxic to dogs, but I thought I'd ask here anyway. And for those of you who may have similar experiences, even if they are safe, is there a limit to how many of these things are ok for her to eat in a day?!? She seems to be treating them rather 'popcorn-like' as she sits beneath the hazelnut tree and watches the squirrels drop them down on her.

Sigh.. gotta love puppies!
