3 most important things for every dog owner

Every pet owner has their own views and opinions on what matters most in a dogs life. I would like to learn from all of you what you consider to be the three most important keys to raising a happy healthy dog!
    Such as
    1. Food
    2. Exercise
    3. Training
Or any other combination whatever you think every dog owner should do, know, or buy.

(feel free to add quirky things that matter most ton your dog in particular)

I have only had my gsd-Doberman mix for 3mos but I know already her top three are
    1. Exercise ( walk run or tennis ball!)
    2. Good food ( blue buffalo basics for now)
    3. IMO consistent training in her opinion RAWHIDES LOL!

    Safety
    Exercise
    Exercise

and for people with those really willful dogs:

    Safety
    Exercise
    Patience
(I know you said list 3, but my fourth in this list would be: Exercise)

Training and Food are way up there as well, but I see so many owners having problems with training their dogs... because those dogs haven't gotten their energy out;they can't focus; the owner gets frustrated; the cycle continues.

Puddin's training instuctor preached the rule of 5 for willful assertive dogs.
he said to find 5 things your dog loves and make the dog work for them.
Dog loves the outdoors, he/she has to sit before you open the door, etc..

The most important "key" is to establish and maintain a healthy reationship with your dog. That means responsible leadership on your part. Everything else follows from that.

    In My Opinion:
1.Rules, boundaries and limitation (whether or not you agree with Cesar Millan's training styles, he has a great point)((Examples: Kodi isn't allowed in my room (He finds socks, even when there are none...) and Roonie isn't allowed outside of the dog run(because regardless of what we have in our hand (we could have his favorite treats, steak, cheese or anything else in our hands, and he will not come back.) Lady isn't allowed to chase cats. (self explanatory)
    2 Exercise
3 An honest assessment of their abilities. I can never expect the Schnoodle to herd cattle (too little, no reliable recall and no drive), and I can never expect Lady to do agility (she has a spinal injury)

    To the dogs...
    1 Play
2 Treats and food (in that order)
    3 Love

    1. Health (includes food, regular vet care, flea & heartworm prevention, exercise, grooming, physical safety)
    2. Time & attention (includes playing & doing stuff the dog likes to do) Aidan likes his pool and sitting with me in the yard, watching tractors at work. Today, the farmer across the road spread manure on his fields and we sat outside in the breeze b/c Aidan enjoyed the odor.
    3. Training (includes socialization)
