How do you delete your account?

See the + training post in the training folder, and based on some other reasons as well, I think I should just step back.

I don't think you can. I think the mods can permaban you though.

You said it yourself. You just step back.

Log out and don't log back in. Keep track of your log-in in case you change your mind.

I did exactly that myself. I took a couple years off, with no real intention of returning. I wasn't mad. I was just tired.

The permaban option is an ugly way to go out. Every post you've ever made will list your status as Banned, and you will never have the option to return.

Yeah, I really didn't want to do that. Thanks for the info!

If you like we can deactivate your account for you but we cannot delete it. Would deactivation work?

What advantage would there be to the member - as opposed to just logging out?

I'm guessing deactivating would eliminate the option to return. Lots of members who take some voluntary time off decide to come back at some point.

On the contrary, we could change the username to the user ID, and keep the email address or vice versa just to make it easier to track down.
They would just have to contact us and we could bring them back from the dead.
