    Unhappy Pomeranian Losing hair badly

I have a 5yr. old toy pom. He acts fine, eats well...only science diet dry. He is losing hair evenly all over. Vet says underactive thyroid. Done 2 test. started with 1/2 pill day. now on 1/2 pill twice a day. His skin in NOT black but piggy pink. He does have a few freakles around his privates, but not sure if they have always been there. I dont' know what to do. Can't afford vet bill s.... He has all shots up to date and we are very careful what he eats... Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks...

Science Diet really isn't the best dog food out there. Maybe changing to a better dog food would help with the hair loss. I'm sure someone else would know what dogfood brands are best for that kind of thing. I would deff get him off of Science Diet though.

Did the bloodtests confirm the hypothyroidism? I'm assuming so if the vet started you on the drugs. It may take a while for the drugs to take effect, so give it a couple weeks.

How is your dog acting otherwise? More active and chipper? Having any side effects to the drugs?
