    Scab on my dogs snout!

I just rescued a 1 1/2 old Pitbull Terrier from owners who were trying to find a good home for him. I got him just yesterday! He seems as healthy as can be, however he had this dime sized scab on his snout. It didnt seem bothersome to him, but just today I noticed it came off, now its one big open sore. I have no idea if I should apply something on it. I dont want it to get infected, and I dont want him to hurt if I applied the wrong thing.

    Please help!!

When my dog decided to stick his nose into the rat cage, he came out with a nice clean slice on his nose I washed it with Chlorahexidine and rinsed well. Since the nose is regularly licked, you can't put anything medical on it (unless it is digestable) So all you can really do is wash it well everyday until a scab forms again.

If he's eating out of plastic bowls change to metal ones.

A vet visit might be a good idea if it doesn't heal in a few days.
