My dog needs to gain weight

Is there any dog foods available that help a dog gain weight? My dog is very active and therefore her weight is not staying on her.

Put her on something that has a high fat content in it. Acana's sport and agility is what I am using to keep the weight on my old dog and on my pit/collie cross cause she has such a high metabolism.

I think any decent quality dog food should do. I like the Diamond brand or better yet, Innova. We get the Active dog dry and they love it. Maybe try 3 meals a day - if the dog is active, more frequent meals may help. Just watch carefully as the dog ages, because they, like us, gain weight as they hit middle age lol!

First, are you sure she needs to gain weight? So many dogs are fat that a healthy dog can look skinny, especially on some of the naturally leaner breeds.

Otherwise, a high-quality and high calorie food should do it. I'd go for more protein rather than for more fat. I switched to Earthborn Primitive Naturals about a month ago (grain-free, made in the US) which has the highest calorie count I've ever seen at over 700 kcal/cup and nearly 40% protein. It has worked very well for me (not trying to fatten him up, just keep same weight with good coat quality and small poops )

I have used satin balls with a foster of mine in the past (with success), and have recommended them to someone else I know who was having issues with their dogs weight, and it's been working. Just an idea.
