Pumpkin for Loose Stools

I have heard this as a good help for a dog that is pooping loose but has no other symptoms such as blood in the stool, fever, lethargy, inappetance etc.

Atka had some loose poop last night (not full blown diarrhea.. just real loose and went 2X more than normal but not in her crate.. no begging to go out etc.). I got some canned pumpkin as suggested (not pie filling, just plain canned pumpkin). She weighs 68 pounds and I gave her between 1/2 and 1/3 can. She was find this morning, but she might have been fine anyway?

I am wondering how much is reommended to give her.. maybe that is too much, too little or just right.

Suggestions?

Sometimes I've had four large dogs here (and maybe one dogette) and somebody will have loose stools. Since I can't be certain which one it is, they all get roughly a half can with the next couple of meals. They like it, it doesn't seem to hurt any of them and it helps the one that needs it.

Oddly, I've also heard that it's good for constipation, but that's never been an issue with my dogs.
