Sheltie going deaf

Hey, I have an 8 year old female sheltie named Sadie who has recently shown signs of having significant hearing loss. She had a serious yeast infection in her ears several years ago, and she also had a couple ear infections when she was a puppy, but I don't see how that could be a factor. So I initially thought it just came with age; however I've recently noticed that her ears seem to be a little more red than usual. Also she has several small white bumbs almost like pimples inside of one of her ears? Could this be something more than just deafness with age?

I'm sorry that I can't be of much help to you but I think your girl needs to be seen by a vet.

Just a word of caution to you or anyone else whose vet may prescribe Gentamicin (Gentocin) for ear infections. It's well known that this drug can cause total hearing loss; however, some vets fail to mention this very devastating side effect to pet owners. It happened to my girlfriend's Lab. Her girl could hear one day and was totally deaf the next. Warnings are very specific and go so far as to caution about using on any dog that relies on hearing to do a job, such as service dog, police dog, hearding dogs, etc.
