    Sick Shih Tzu, need help

I have a 3 year old Shih Tzu named Emma, until a few days ago she has been very healthy. She would have what has been called a reverse sneeze. She doesn't ever eat much or drink for that matter but overall shes good. I noticed she seemed slow lately and when she jumped up on me to greet me she missed my leg. The very next day she went way down hill, she has been lying down mostly immobile and sick looking. We took her to the vet and they said her liver is enlarged. CBC and other such blood tests were normal. Her LFT's were high. Since then she has mainly rested in bed with antibiotics around the clock. I can't afford to have her stay in a hospital or go to the vet anymore than we have. What do we do? Is there someone out there that I can go to that can help me out or knows whats going on? I read briefly on here that there is apprently some known issues with these dogs and their livers. Until today I didn't know this. Its mainly my wifes dog. I'm at wits end and need some help. Thanks! Heres her picture, she's on the left, max is on the right

See if you can work a payment plan out with a vet, sometimes they can.

tried that and they won't do it, I have already paid over $350 to them, I volunteer at the local FD and I work in public service but that doesn't help either

Hopefully we don't go past what I got approved for. I'm so sad right now, shes a good dog and I hope she does better by Monday. They said she may have 1 of 2 bad liver disorders, one being cancer, which may need a biopsy, which I know I cant afford. And then it could be just that she is ammonia toxic from the inflammation. I hope its the latter, because she'll survive that. I don't want to have to think of putting her to sleep, she is only 3 years old.

    CK out this thread.
http://www.dogforums.com/13-dog-heal...tmlThere's some good info there. Ask your vet if she is on the med that I asked Lola's owner about. It's one of the only meds that has been proven to help the liver regenerate quicker.

With my cocker, the vet decided to not do a biopsy, because there is the risk of bleeding out during the biopsy, and if it is liver cancer, there really isn't much you can do. So he treated it with numerous meds and it was successful.

Good luck w/your baby. Glad that the Carecredit helped.

I would ask your local humane society if they know of any org that will help you. I'm glad you were approved for Care Credit.

Sending positive thoughts for Emma, I hope she will be okay.
