My moms vet told her about a once a month flea pill that is suspose to work better than the topical products but my mom can not remember what its called. Have any of you ever heard of it or used it? She said you give it to them once a month just like the heart worm prevention.
Its called comfortis. Been using it with my dog since like february and I haven't seen one flea on him since. When he was on frontline I saw fleas on him all the time. For the first 3 months, just the day he took the pill (feb 1, mar 1, and apr 1), he experienced the side effects that were listed on the package. Once he threw it up and then the other two months he was just really groggy for the remainder of the day. I usually give it to him after he eats his dinner that way he's not too active and it wont accidentally upset his stomach from all the activity.
program is another oral flea control that is given once monthly. and sentinel is a heartworm medication that also contains program to control fleas monthly. these two products have been around for a long time.
