how long to leave the cone on.

My puppy got spayed and I was wondering how long to leave the cone on. I was told 10 days but I also heard 2 to 3 days is ok. My dog is better, knock on wood, but of course people have different opinions on how long to leave this on and I know it's so she doesn't get to it. But any info would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on the dog. The edges of the wound should be fused closed by the 3rd or 4th day. However, it is never good to have the dog licking at it for the first 10 days. You can try taking he cone off after the 3rd day and see if she is obsessed with licking the wound. One of ours was recently spayed and I only had to remind her a handful of times to leave it alone. But then she's 8 years old so pretty obedient.
