Puppy Born with Half Tail, Birth defect?

Hello, my dog Sophie, is ten months old now. Two months ago she had come into heat for the first time. My mother's dog, which we assumed was her dad, busted a hole through the skirting around the house to get to her. The breeding was completely unintentional. She had six, healthy seeming puppies however, one of them was born with half a tail. I was wondering, with this defect, is there any problems that may go along with it in this puppy's future?

Depending on the breed/breed mix of the parents it may be a perfectly natural occurrence.. Some breeds have naturally bob tails.. However, yes it can be a defect and were there is one defect there may be others... The only way to know for sure is to have a thorough exam done on the puppy by a vet..

All 6 puppies and mom should be taken into the vet for a wellness exam to check for any defects and what not. The vet can check the tail. It very well could be a defect, or could just be a natural bob tail. While at the vet you should schedule a spay appointment for mom so this doesn't happen again.
