do collies have special dental hygiene requirements?

I read this quote from a trainer:

...veterinarians still advocate regular brushing and annual dental care (teeth cleaning, polishing and full dental exam) even for dogs that eat raw bones. This is especially important for dogs with very poor dental health and for breeds with unique oral structure such as greyhounds, poodles, or collies.
What "unique oral structure" do collies have? I have a collie mix dog, and I wasn't aware of anything special about their teeth.

IME dogs with really long pointy muzzles, like sighthounds, dachshunds, collies (talking rough/smooth collies here not border collies), shelties, tend to accumulate tartar faster than other breeds with more moderately shaped muzzles.
