Jasper's first swim

Jasper went for his first swim, a few weeks ago, in our pond. He absolutely loved it. The first time we threw the ball in, he was a little leery about getting in, barked a little bit at the ball, then must have decided to risk it and he took a flying leap right in. After that first time, he couldn't get enough of the water. When it was time to quit swimming, he actually looked at the water, then looked at me, then started whining.
Here are a couple of pics of his swim.

That's wonderful! I'm so glad he had fun! I imagine that's great exercise - espcially for a giant breed that has joint problems - swimming is nice and gentle. He's a beautiful boy!

Great pictures! Jasper certainly looks happy in the water. Our two like to get in the river to cool off in the hot weather.

I'm one of those odd ducks that actually likes wet dog smell. But, then, I like the smell of chlorine, too, because it makes me think of pools.

I have been blessed with water dogs and watching them swim and frolic in the water is such a joy.

Jasper is a lucky guy and you're lucky to have him.

LOL! I don't like the smell of wet dog as such, but getting them to swim is easier than trying to bath them, and damp CLEAN dog is way preferable to damp not-quite-clean-enough dog. Although, Tess rolls in "chanel for dogs" (aka fox poo) at every possible opportunity.

Re: Jasper's first swim

Yes, he really had alot of fun in the water. He didn't get to swim last weekend because he was not feeling too good, but he's all better now and I can't wait to get him in there again. Since his first swim, he keeps walking up on the pond bank and looking at the water, like he's dreaming of how much fun he's going to have in there. It's funny. Hopefully this weekend, I can get my Lab to get in there with him. He's still scared of the water and I don't want to force him. I figure he'll get in when he's ready.
