Bubba's feet need to be trimmed before we go rompin' around in the snow. I'll do that in the morning...

| Re: Pre-Snow Yard Chores Wait...who's this new mountain dog mixing in with your guys?
Looks like you had a lot of leaves to rake up - though at least it was all more or less contained to one area.
Your crew is looking as good as always!

Your crew is looking as good as always! | She's Jasmine. My friend's dog, and she's just now growing out of the puppy stage and integrating into my group. Oops.
...and an update from today featuring Bubba!!!
Finally snowing. |

| Re: Pre-Snow Yard Chores I am in a 2 week break between dogs. I got down some grass seed and straw last week with only a 4 year old around. Yesterday I raked the leaves and put down fertilizer in the back yard. This was the end of a prolonged landscaping project. If Lowes had any sod left, I would bought some. The grass hardly has a chance, bad soil, north side of the house, a huge osage orange tree, and dogs. I hope we still have enough warm weather for the grass to establish itself well enough to over winter. We are getting a 7 week old Lab 8 November. I don't think she will be too hard on the grass before the ground freezes.
Zephyr is a 4 year old Lab belonging to our daughter. He should be here from time to time for the rest of his life. |

I've heard that planting grass in the fall is the best time to plant. I'm not sure why, but that's what I've heard... so hopefully it will do well. |

| Re: Pre-Snow Yard Chores We had a very dry summer that hurt some of the grass I have managed to start. Grass does much better in cool, wet weather. If you get it established enough in the fall not to winter kill, it gets a second cool, wet period in the spring before facing the hot, dry summer.
To keep the puppy from stomping it down into the mud, I sometimes tether it out front. |
