Xena, my BFF, is now ONE!

How time flies. My little girl is now a big girl. It seems just yesterday, when I first held her in my arms, officially ours a week before Xmas. The best xmas present I have ever received. A year ago, I remember "writing" down the PROS and CONS of getting a third dog. If I was to "win" my case, I better have good reasons to back it up.

A week before I met Xena, our friend who runs a doggy daycare posted facebook pictures of the 3 female puppies she was fostering. I immediately fell in love. But, DH hasn't given me a go signal. The decision had to be mutual. For my sake and the puppy's sake. LOL! We went to our friend's adoption drive that very weekend and met the puppies. I was both happy and sad. Happy to see the little pups and sad because our friend said all the three pups were spoken for.

But what was making it more difficult, they kept making me carry this little puppy with a pink collar. I sure enjoyed cuddling her, but, knowing I can never have her, was killing me inside. It was a long quite drive home. A first to us. I am almost always "talking" and "noisy" inside the car, I always have stories to tell. But that night, I was just too sad to say anything. DH told me not to get upset. That next week, if I will be a good girl, I will have a puppy. I knew he was just saying that to cheer me up. I wasn't buying it.

But here came Friday. After a week of having very little sleep every night. DH came home with a puppy. The puppy with the pink collar!!! She was ours all along. Our friend and my DH was secretly communicating about the possibility of us adopting a puppy from their rescue, she contacted him immediately when the 3 puppy was born. He was promised the puppy with the yellow plastic collar (they replaced them with real collars after a few days). But they ended up getting mixed up after giving the puppies a bath before the adoption, and put the pink collar (to replace the yellow one) to the puppy with the orange collar. It was the most awesome mistake ever made. Xena was the best female puppy I could ever ask for.

now, she gives a good fight when they want to take something from her..

Most of you witnessed her grow. A few even knew about the ups and downs I have had with her. The digging under the fence to get to my neighbour's backyard, digging bigger holes so her brothers can join her escapades. Other than that, I cant really complain about my baby girl. Oh never mind, I just remembered SHE still has my ring. IN HER BELLY. Its been a week of grossness. LOL!

Xena bonded well with her brothers. The boys, up until today, let her gets her way. I thought puppy pass only lasts for 6 months. Xena's has no expiry. Lucky girl.

she is such a lover, she loves everything.. If it weren't for Xena, Zeus will not be ours. Zeus learned to trust the dogs because of Xena. And the boys learned to behave well around the cat because Xena set a good example.

I love you my baby girl. You've changed me in so many ways. You truly are my BFF. I can never imagine my life without you.
