Re: Strauss is a manly man!

He looks a lot like Amelia's Tonkinese mix. From what I've seen Siamese are kinda the Pharaoh hounds of the cat world, huge ears, extremely short coat, very leggy. yaya I found a pic of one

Strauss is great. Do you even need to bathe him when he has his own personal "washing machine" laying around.

Re: Strauss is a manly man!

Actually, that is not the original siamese shape. The one I have, though poorly bred (she's a rescue) is more correct in terms of old style. The one you posted is called the "Thai" type frequently. They are the show breds....I wouldn't own one. I feel about showbred siamese the way some feel about AmLine Shepherds

Re: Strauss is a manly man!

how sweet!!

your siamese looks very much like mine i always thought she was called an "apple head" siamese, the way they originally were. she is also not well bred but she was my first pet and when the lady upstairs had kittens i really wanted one!

this is my blue, she is 12 1/2.

Re: Strauss is a manly man!

Yup! The original Siamese are referred to as the apple head type. Kaia is unusually small for a Siamese (8 pounds at the most). As I said, I rescued her, and my guess is that she was malnourished (She walks a bit awkwardly in addition to her lack of size).

I feel the way about Siamese that I do about Shepherds though...couldn't live without them. They're very similar, right down to being vocal!

Kaia is 11/12 herself! From all the people I've talked to with Meezers, they and the other Oriental types live FOREVER! My friend's mom's cat was a Siamese (He was so huge I believe he was really Tonkinese), lived until 18-19

Re: Strauss is a manly man!

blue is tiny too. she is usually right around 7 lbs. we got her up to close to 8 for a bit but she seems to have gone back to around 7. she has a vomiting thing :S blah! since we switched to better food she has gone from vomiting every day like clock work to about 1-2 times a week. sometimes she will go a few weeks. it is very exciting!

i love my little siamese girlie but i am not really a cat person. she acts like a little dog though. so cute!

i used to rent from an old lady (sweetest lady in the whole world!) and she said she had a male siamese who looked just like my cat who lived to be over 20! i hope that both Kaia and blue have many good years left!

They are great cats I've always been a cat person, and I couldn't live without one (Dilute Calicos and Torties are favorites of mine)
