| Re: Porter Do you have any stacked pictures of him? I know in your other thread you wanted an opinion on him in terms of conformation, and I don't want to judge him only by what I see here. |

| Re: Porter He's beautiful, I just love Rotties.
Question though, what was the e-collar for? My only guess, since he didn't seem to show any injury in the pic was neutering. I don't believe you can show a neutered dog..
I don't think it'd hurt to try out a show..and see how he does/places..and if it doesn't work out, no harm done. |

| Re: Porter E collar-
He had a really bad hot spot and that was the only way we could him to leave it anole until it got better.
I'm going to try to get some better pictures of him today. Its a little hard because he has to be outside it get good light and he wants to play outside.
I was thinking that his head is a bit small. His dad had a big head, so I was hoping that Porter's will fill out. He kinda has a baby face that I don't see many rotties with and I was thinking that might hurt him in the show ring.
I try to clip his nails. I can get about one a day. I took him to petsmart to get them done and now he wont let me touch his feet with the clipers. I'm trying to do it slow and get him ok with it. I don't want to just hold him down make him scared.
Thank yall for saying that he is pretty!

| Re: Porter Actually, one of his problems is that his muzzle is too long, and the stop too deep. That is unlike to change as the structure is just improper. His father having a big head doesn't mean he had a correct head, and head in this breed is a big part of type.
I think you'll be able to have fun with him in other areas though |

| Re: Porter I had a pedipaws, but I let a girl at the appartment I live in use and I never got it back. I'm trying to be more firm with him about it (making him stay everytime he jumps up) so now he's started barking and showing his teeth. I don't really want him to bite me. I don't think he would, but its scares me. |

I'm trying to get him ok with me holding his paw with the clippers in my hand. He likes to pull his paw away and kick me in the back with his back legs when put the clippers on his nail. |

| Re: Porter Rottieluv How old is Porter? He is very cute but I agree that from the pictures shown he is not show quality. This is not to say he should not be in the ring doing obedience, agility, rally etc... Hopefully a CGC and Therapy registration as well. I love all Rotties and Porter looks very kissable to me.
Have you tried using a dremel on his toenails? It is very important to keep them nice and short. Make a game out of it if you can. You could also clicker train him to be more comfortable with the process. I agree you should not try to muscle him into it.
You said he growls and jumps on you. I am hopeful this is just goofy play as Rotties sometimes do but I think you need to get him into some training classes ASAP to nip that behavior in the bud. You should NEVER be afraid of your own dog. Getting him into classes will help you both to bond and learn to trust each other. Both of you can gain some confidence through training.
edit: Xeph where did you get his picture? http://vonhoffmanrottweilers.com/db5...MX7FKYQ_11.jpg
That is Shaka, Carstens dad. |
