I think Monica needs a new name.

If you read the rescue forum, you might have heard that a GSD rescue in Dallas with about 400 dogs has had to close it's doors.

I decided to help out and go see if they had a nice dog that could get along with Hope, I brought home Monica here.. Shes about a 1yr old mix, totally looks like a German shepherd at half size, and her tail is just a bit curly, and curls up over her back some when it's up, which seems to be a lot of the time.

She's very affectionate, seems to be very sharp and very attentive and should be a snap to train. She does need a bit of help in the social dept though.

Anyway, I'm not liking Monica, not too hot on 3 syllable names and not easy to call out quickly, one or two are my limit it seems..

So what would be a good name do you folks think? Nothing is leaping out at me.

On the sofa with Hope, who isn't feeling well and isn't so happy about sharing her sofa..

Ohh and I heard tonight the shelter was down to 5 dogs, I can probably guess which 5, so the 400 are all gone to other shelters or adopted.

Great looking dog! If you want to shorten Monica you can always try Nica or Naika?

Oh, I like Nica. Or Mona. Either one would be close to the original name. She's beautiful! Looks like they are getting along OK, too. Though as you say, Hope doesn't look too happy in that picture. LOL.

Hope isn't happy, they are both quite jealous of each other at the moment, neither one can stand me giving the other attention.

Hope is also sick and getting worse, she's vet bound this morning as she's not looking or acting well at all.

ROFL, I seem to remember that. And I never even watched soaps.

Seemed to be back about the time of Luke and Laura.

Dunno about Bo for a girl though.

Hope went to the vet today, turns out she's just very constipated, guess from the pills she's on.

The vet gave Monica an initial checkup for free, turns out she's not 1yr old, she's 3 or maybe 4. Perfect weight, looks healthy but needs her teeth cleaned.

So she gets some of Hope's bid dental chews..

Dogs always look like they are in nirvana when they chew these things...

Mmmm chew chew chew..

Mmmm chew chew chew chew...

Mmm chew chew chew some more!

She is a very smart, very active and very attentive and affectionate girl though, and seems very trainable.

I have to pick a name pretty fast.

Well so far the leading name is Kaya, Hopi indian for "sister" someone suggested elsewhere.

Well it was a tough call between Kaya and Gypsy...

Someone suggested "Nerf" which is she was boy I would definitely have taken. She is a nerfed shepherd..

But Kaya it is, she has her new name!
