Woofer Weekend :)

On Sunday I volunteered with Howling Woods Farm again, this time at a Balloon Festival (any NJ folks will probably know what I'm talking about). The weather was a bit shaky, so they weren't too busy... which meant lots of lounging around with Samson (the big black malamute x wolf I had posted previously), and two pups.

The pups were Kotori (beautiful all white wolf x german shepherd, I need to find a picture of him) and Makita (shepherd x husky x wolf), both born in February but in separate litters. They were so fun... Kotori was a little devil. He tried to pull off a woman's dress and steal a little boy's hat. Makita was the shyer of the too, but she put up a fight when Kotori went to wrestle her.

The day ended a bit earlier than expected due to some bad storms that blew through, but I'll be seeing them again in about a week at another festival. So more pictures coming then.

Hey, pay attention Makita!

That's better.

What amazes me is how gentle these guys all are, even as clumsy, naughty pups. Dexter would chew your arm off when he was little... these guys won't. I was putting my hands in their mouths to show guests their teeth... and everyone was amazing at how they showed no interest in biting.

Love me some woofers.

And for fun, my sister and her boyfriend posing with Samson.

I'd also like to point out, the husky rescue next to us had this little guy:

I am glad he was already adopted when I went over to see him, or else I would have another dog right now.

I remember Samson! He is a handsome fella. I would be taking all the dogs home or crying because I couldn't. Sounds like you had a good time and I can't wait for more pics!

You're right about that. They're going to be in The Sorcerer's Apprentice next Summer. I don't know too much about it, other than the wolf dogs are in a subway chase scene... and Nicolas Cage is the lead role. Should be fun to see!

Oh, and the rescue leader sent over some shots from the event... here's Kotori and his new friend.

Kotori!!! I LOVE that little guy! I saw that he was posted on one of the wolfdog rescue lists. Is Howling Woods still planning on adopting him out, or is he there to stay? I remember him looking very small in the pics. He's ADORABLE!

I can't wait to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice and see the woofers in action!

What beautiful dogs. They look so nice to cuddle with. Especially on a cold Alaska night. Gorgeous.

We are a petite family, no doubt -- but he is very big! He stands over six feet on his hind legs, and weighs about 115 pounds (which actually isn't THAT much -- he's a lot of fluff).

I'm pretty sure they're going to keep him. They were saying how they'll have to pay close attention to him as he grows up around the other wolfdogs, since he's got an alpha attitude -- which leads me to think he's there to stay.
