Agility Videos!

My DH took these videos this past Tuesday in Libby's Beginner 3 class.

In the first and second video, we are practicing contacts on the A-frame and dog walk:

In this video, we are practicing the teeter. This is the second week that we have walked the length of the teeter:

Weaves! Libby LOVES the weaves! There are wooden guards on the sides of the poles to help the dogs learn which way to go:

(MORE TO COME!)

Finally, a short sequence! Libby slides off the table at the end... oops!

Thanks for looking!

Kyllobernese is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Agility Videos!

Nice videos. I wish I could get someone to video my dogs when they are doing Agility but the lighting in the arena we use is too dark. I have video taped Remmy and my sister's dog when we were doing it in the outdoor arena with our homemade equipment and it turned out alright. I have never seen weave poles set up like that. Mostly around here they do the channel weaves where you have the two rows of poles and gradually bring them closer together, or they are set up with a piece of plastic hose connected to every other pole so they cannot duck out.

I've seen the channel weaves, but our agility school does them this way. So far, it's working REALLY well for all the dogs in class!

That's what's neat about watching other people's agility videos - there are SO many different ways to teach!

Re: Agility Videos!

Oh I love agility... I cant wait until I get my next dane. I plan on a show quality and want to get into Agility and Obedience Trials!

When I was little I would set up an "agility course" in my back yard out of chairs and broom and mop sticks lol! and for the weave my dad bought me PVC pipes. LOL! That was ages ago! My dog Zeke was amazing at it. Ahh, what it was to be a child... lol.

Thanks for sharing those vids! Keep em coming!

Re: Agility Videos!

Looks like you are having lots of fun! Why is your trainer (I assume that's who it is) standing by the teeter like that? I like how it has the mat underneath it, that's a great idea!

If I had a yard... I would totally do this!

Our instructor is standing at the point where we want the dog to pause to tip the teeter to the ground, to teach them where to stand. It's also to remind me where to stop, click, and treat to reinforce the tipping behaviour.

I agree, having a pause table under the end of the has really helped the dogs to be confident on an obstacle that could potentially be scary and intimidating. The great thing about this agility school is that we take things very slowly, so very few bad habits are formed, and there's no lumping!

Exclamation Re: Agility Videos!

I really like the way Susan Garrett teaches weaves. You might want to check out her booklet (available now). She's got a video coming out soon that you can watch a clip of:

Re: Agility Videos!

Yay, new videos!

We are now in the Novice 1 level at our agility school. Libby is loving it, as am I! We both really missed it over the winter.

The first video is of the teeter. We have only been doing the baby-sized teeter at full tilt for the past 4 weeks. This was the first class where we put it into a small sequence.

Next is the weave poles. Two small mistakes here: she pops out of the weaves once, and she goes around the tunnel instead of through it. Oops!

This video is of a sequence. We have been putting the a-frame into the sequences for the past 4 weeks, with no trouble. She loves the a-frame!

One more sequence. This one was tough on the handlers as it used only two jumps and a tunnel, but using each more than once and in different directions. She misses the last jump, but we did really well otherwise!

Thanks for looking!
