Shippo's First Dog Park Visit!

Weeee! I finally got Shippo his last set of shots the other day, so I was able to start taking him to the dog park yesterday. Here are a few pics of his very first visit. >^_^<

He was nervous at first...

He seems very polite...especially in the last pic to allow the basenji to sniff. Very cute, and how fun.

The first trip to the dogpark is a bit unnerving.

The county park here opened mid-week in June about 12 years ago. My two kids and my giant lab and I went there the following Saturday. We had no idea what to expect.

Would the other dogs like him? Would he like them? Would he start running and never some back? Would we miss dinner have have to order a pizza? Is that 4-foot fence really going to keep him in here?

It turned out fine. I was a 5-6 times-per-week user for ten years with Cubby. We both made good friends there and it really makes me sad when I hear about bad dogpark experiences people have had. I guess they're not all the same.

I'm working with our town association to finally get construction of a dog park going, usually I have to drive quite a distance to the nearest one - where ill-mannered dogs usually preside. Like Ron said, it's unfortunate to hear about negative experiences, but I enjoy seeing pictures of good times.
