Barclay and his flirt pole

Here are some pictures of Barclay playing with his flirt pole:

In the first picture he is doing a Sit & Wait while I gently swing it in front of him.

Then an action shot of him jumping up to grab it. It's really hard to get pictures while holding the flirt pole

Then one of him tugging on it.

And one enjoying his 'catch'. This toy had zero interest for him before tying it to the pole!

Here's a few more:

Sitting with his catch.

Cooling off in the sheep trough.

Alki was hanging around watching, but she has no interest in chasing things.

Here is Alki and Barclay in the kitchen. Alki is on the left, Barclay on the right. I just loved the look on Barclay's face!

Great pics. Barclay is really cute looking. I like the spitz type dogs. Yeah it can be a pain taking pics at the same time especially when they are chasing and flying everyone...lol

Re: Barclay and his flirt pole

I've been reading a lot about flirt poles on here. Some of you have probably read about the high energy of Daja...she's been to a behaviorist, doggie school, doggie day care. She loves to chase anything I throw for her (inside and out) and I'm going to start taking her for walks now that Texas has decided to cool down to 80 in the evenings...

Can someone tell me a little bit about the purpose of a flirt pole? I'm going to do some research but I thought I would get some advice from people I trust...that's y'all! Gotta get Daja tuckered out at night...she drives me crazy at times with all her energy.

Re: Barclay and his flirt pole

The flirt pole has been a HUGE help in wearing Barclay out. He would be happy chasing sheep for hours, but obviously we can't let him do that, so this gives us another way to burn off that puppy energy. Eskimos are one of those dogs that really need to be worn out regularly, else all that energy goes into barking or tearing stuff up. That's probably why they made such great circus dogs!
