| Re: My rescued bulldog What a cutie!
I've always loved Bulldogs, but am by far not the best person to give info on them. I can't wait to learn more about her and of course see more pictures.
Congrats on the new fur baby! Keep up updated |

| Re: My rescued bulldog Beautiful!!!
About all I know about the breed is that their short coat is bad for cold weather. Their stubby noses aren't good for the heat.
I love Bull Dogs! They are verrrry cute. |

| Re: My rescued bulldog She's so cute! I love bulldogs, but most of the ones I meet through work give me a nasty sneezing fit. Weird.
The ones I know seem to be high maintenance dogs. Lots of skin issues. One is allergic to grass and has a rash most of the summer months. A couple with recurring sinus or eye problems. But then again, working at a vet, I see the ones with problems a lot more frequently. The ones without problems only get seen once a year for their annual checkups and vaccination.
One thing that bugs me about the breed, actually more the owners, is that they never seem to neuter their males. With those stubby little knots for tails, there's just too much on display. They're obscene! |

| Re: My rescued bulldog Congratulations on the new bully! I have a bulldog named Max and can say that they are one of my alltime favorite breeds. As stated above they need to be indoor dogs because they are extremley intolerant to heat and cold. They can heat stroke in anything above 80 degrees. Doesn't mean you can't take them out in the heat, but you need to be able to keep them cool and hydrated. They are also notorious snorers and snorters. We used to be able to hear my old bullie Lizzy snoring when we were upstairs with the door closed and the fan on. They do have a tendency to eye and coat probems, but not all do. Lizzy had food allergies so we put her on a raw diet and it cleared up. So far with Max we haven't had any issues. They are very affectionate (all generalizations of course) and need to be around their family. Besides a sometimes stubborn streak I found both Lizzy and Max fairly easy to train and they were both food and praise motivated. In my experience they are wonderful family dogs. Great with children and other pets. They don't need a lot of excersize (my old saying is never walk a bulldog farther than you are willing to carry them back) but it is important to not let them get overweight as that will lead to a lot of health issues later on. That's all I can think of right now, but feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Congrats again on the new addition and I can't wait to see more pictures! |

| Re: My rescued bulldog We have had our Old English Bulldogge for 5 weeks now and love her to death. She is 15 weeks old. She is a snorer, but is also very affectionate and smart. Sometimes when I get her harness to take her for a walk, I can almost hear her say "Are you kiding me?", she is not that fond of walking that far. lol I think we finally have potty training down, and she spends most of her time on her bed in the house or on the cool tile floor, but she is free to go outside anytime she pleases. I have found that giving her anything with soy in it makes her pass gas really bad, and it does not smell pretty. So far, she is healthy and no other problems. |

| Re: My rescued bulldog English Bulldogs are amazing. Low key, low activitiy, sweet personalities that only want to please you. Good with cats, and all dogs. They are inside dogs who will fart, shed, and need weekly baths to smell good. Mine was named Winston and my cockapoo was his best friend. my little dog would bite his ears and jump off my counch onto his back and try and get him to play all day. He pretended like he didn't care about Daphne but protected her more then once from mean things like stuff animals or anything that could be threating. They will cost you money at the Vet and get his throat checked out, there traceas(not sure the spelling) can collaspe and prevent them from getting much air. Cherry eye and their eye lids will roll into their eyes which is common but about $400 plus to fix. I want another one just can't spend the $1300 plus on one, now. |

| Re: My rescued bulldog I had one in the past and currently have a mix.
Lets just start out that bulldogs are EXPENSIVE!!! Not just when they are puppies, but all the way past adulthood.
Most of them have stenotic nares and elongated palates that require surgery. They get yeast infections in their nose ropes and tail pockets extremely easily. They are gross droolers and have very bad gas, and many other smells. Alot of them have bad allergies, and have bad skin infections like alopecia. (My Max had it on his sides).
The best thing I bought for my bullie is malabsorb wipes to keep his wrinkles clean. Check for a tail pocket because you don't want that to get infected. It's a pocket right above the tail. Most of the time you can get your finger up there really far.
So of then have entropia with their eyelids, and that requires surgery, as well. The are aggresive chewers and need sturdy toys to keep their teeth clean. Their teeth are deformed too. They also have breathing problems, and require air conditioning in the summer. Their nose is unable to control the temperature that goes into their lungs, so they get cold in easily and they can overheat easily.
Now, the upside of owning one is they are very lovable, and seem to love everyone. Some of them have a lot more energy than most people think. They love to listen to our problems.
They (in my opinion) are the best dogs on the face of the earth. I love them. |
