| Kim and Webster Hit the Trail I had Tuesday off and the weather was fantastic, so I took the pooches hiking for a few hours at the river. We all had a great time, though Web nearly gave me a heart attack when he got loose...we've only had him 3.5 weeks. He made it about 40' away (approx) before I was sure I could keep my voice and body language under control (i.e. not obviously panicking), but he came right back when I called him...and I spent the next 30 seconds just praising him and giving him belly rubs.
Being me, I took the camera along, so here are a few pictures from our day:
"Hiking", or the park ranger's idea of an outdoors Stairmaster? (Yes, the front part of these trails are ridiculously well-groomed...more of an outdoor stroll than hiking)
Ahead:
Behind:
This is where we were going to go in the River, but it was rather flooded and hard to get to without breaking reserve rules (aka, going way off trail). Normally that whole turbulent water area on the right is a big rock bank which you can reach from the trail.
Kim holding a nice sit-stay in the woods.

| Re: Kim and Webster Hit the Trail This is this awesome tree that I love..."found" it last summer:
Kim climbing on the tree:
Web on the tree:
Trail was really muddy in places, just damp in others...apparently a dog *much* bigger than Web passed before us:

| Re: Kim and Webster Hit the Trail We found this creek, and apparently Webster had never seen/heard running water before because he was all tense, staring at it like something was going to jump out at him, until Kim blasted past and splashed around...crazy dogs.
Notice how the right side of the bridge has water flowing along the stream bed, and the left side is bone dry? I think there was a water-gulping troll under the bridge or something...
Since we couldn't play in the "real" river, I stopped at this creek and let the dogs play around on the new long line, one at a time (balancing on slippery rocks w/ a camera two dogs seems like a bad idea)
Kim guarding my little backpack while Webster played:
Webster goofing around...this is pretty much all he did for 20 minutes: just dash across the stream and back again, lol:

| Re: Kim and Webster Hit the Trail And finally, the meadow, where I decided to put Kim on the 50', Web on the 30', and attempt to take pictures all at once.
Me thinking this is a really stupid idea (and another viewing of the Giant Hand!):
The two dogs enjoying trying to kill each other and hopelessly tangling the lines:
Random pretty flowers (I don't have a garden of my own, so I enjoy wildflowers even more. Don't know what these are though...anyone?)
Kim crushing other flowers with her paws of fury:

| Re: Kim and Webster Hit the Trail Both dogs enjoying running around in the sun and sniffing things:
And last but not least, two happy, tired dogs...they don't look half bad considering twenty minutes prior they were both all wet and covered with dirt...
Thanks for looking!

| Re: Kim and Webster Hit the Trail Great pics Shaina! Love the video of Kim and Web playing in the field...proof of why I'm going to wait to have a big fenced yard before getting a second dog (I can hardly control Zoe on a long lead, never mind a second dog!)...but they sure look like the best of friends. |

It still looks really gross, but at least I'm pretty sure it's not infected...
It's still a lot of fun to have two though |

Kim & Web look like awesome dogs. I love how something so simple like running water can keep dogs entertained for a good period of time. |
