Finally hit triple digits...lol

So we took LadyBird to the vet yesterday for a checkup & when we put her on the scale she now weighs 101lbs. I got to thinking that I haven't posted pics of her in awhile so I thought I would share our big girl.

Aw, she is a big girl now! Don't get to see a lot of Bloodhounds on the boards or in RL often. I like 'em though, they're pretty in their own way

Had she hurt her nose in a couple of the pictures?

She is sooo beautiful! I love Bloodhounds. Bo and I met an amazing rescue Bloodhound at the park one time. She only had 3 legs but was getting around like she had all 4. She was really sweet and she and Bo hit it off immediately.

Females can get upto 110lbs. But our vet said that for now he would like for her to weigh around 97, so she's going to get even more exercise.

We give her injections now about twice a week, which seems to be working GREAT. Her skin doesn't look red or irritated at all & the big part is that she isn't scratching. Allergies are an ongoing battle so where just keeping our fingers crossed.

Jen that's an awesome story & thanks for your kind words. Bloodhounds, like most other dogs have alot of thrive in them. It's just amazing sometimes!

Wow! Its been ages since I last saw little Ladybird! She isnt very little anymore Shes huge! Your pictures have made me realize that the Bloodhound is one of the very few AKC breeds I havent seen yet. I guess there are none to very few Bloodhounds in Colorado.

That's no good, wish we where closer I wouldn't mind if you seen her if you didn't mind the slobers. I don't see myself ever owning a different breed. Our breeder even told us once you have 1 you'll have 2 or 3. I would if I could but I can barely afford this one.
Never know maybe later though..haha

Remember this, we've came a long way in short time...lol

I had no idea Bloodhounds got that big, either! What a beautiful girl she is. So dignified! Except maybe in that sleeping picture... We won't tell her you posted that on the internet!

Awww, I love the sleeping picture! Those ears and those jowls are just great....she sure did get to be a big girl! Glad to hear she's doing so well. Are you doing anything with that nose of hers? (Search and rescue, tracking, or even just hide and seek games?) Or is she not interested (yet)?

Thank you all for your kind comments so far!!!

Zoe we play hide n go seek with her in the house but the skin problems really cut down on our training with her, since she wasn't able to have any treats. But I would love to start putting her to work. Right now though we're back to working on the basics & then maybe later we can do some advanced training. So far all her nose does is get her in trouble. I kid I kid!!!

Re: Finally hit triple digits...lol

Oh, yes, do try to get into some kind of work where she can use her lovely nose! I know a family who had a tragedy---the father's boat tipped, he was alone without a PFD, and he drowned but they couldn't find the body. There was a huge search team that came out, and one group had 2 Bloodhounds---one was the S&R dog, for live rescues, and the other was a cadaver dog. She could even smell a body that was underwater, even in running water. I was very impressed. That was the only time I ever met a Bloodhound, too bad it was under such sad circumstances . I would have enjoyed meeting her more under happier circumstances. Though I guess it's hard to meet a cadaver dog in happier times, eh?
