| Re: Playtime Pictures lol something tells me that ball is going to be mush by the time your dog gets through with it.
I wish I could get mine to like frisbees, but they are much more content to chew on eachother. |

^^^ "Oh come on! The night is still young. Just throw it one more time!"
- yeah, she kept me out there for hours! I have not idea where all this energy came from; I at least figured the snow would wear her out, but nooooo... lol
Smoore - your dogs are gorgeous! I love how tiny your GSD looks! Lol! Both dogs look so happy! I wish Sabina was more socialized, so she could play with our neighbors dog, but whatever, I enjoy spending time with her when I come home from school. Thanks for posting.
And yes...that ball is dead, lol.

| Re: Playtime Pictures What kind of dog is Sabina? She looks like a mix of some sort but she sure is pretty. She seems to have the markings of a GSD but the build of a pit/staffie.
Whatever she is it suits her well! |

Whatever she is it suits her well! | Haha thank you. We're not exactly 100% what breed she is. All we know is she's a GSD mix... I posted about her breeding before on this site regarding what people thought she could be. We were having a problem based on the possibility of Staff or Pit (it's a home-onwer's insurance thing), but I know some people on here got a pit POed with me talking about it so I'm trying to drop it.
The shelter we adopted her from gave us 2 sets of papers: one saying GSD/Lab mix, the other saying GSD/Australian Cattle dog mix...
I actually ran into a "Doggie Geneticist" and she gave me a 401 lesson on genes and traits. She told me that lab, pit, staffie, all naturally floppy-eared dogs were out. I was told that pointy ears are a recessive trait and since Sabina has pointy ears it's an indicator that both of her parents had to have completely pointy-straight ears too. If Sabina had those breeds in her heritage, then the best outcome would be a slight tip to her ears (which she doesn't have). For all I know, she can be a complete mutt, so if she were to have Staff, pit, Dobey, Lab, etc, it would be so far back in her bloodlines that it wouldn't even matter...
As for cattle dog that also cannot be. A dominant trait of the ACD is the molting/ticking/roan color pattern, which she does not have....
We're thinking Australian Kelpie - she's the same size, kind of has that look. As far as I know they are pretty similar to the ACD in ways... so maybe she's that, but idk, I'm not expert, lol.
It's so hard to being able to tell from pictures - each angle makes her look like something else, lol.
(some one also mentioned Basenji - which I find to be a bit of a stretch) |

| Re: Playtime Pictures Oh wow, i didn't realize so much went into the research of mixed breeds, lol. I guess if floppy ears are out then maybe GSD/Belgin Malinoi they have a pretty broad chest and such and are beautiful animals as well.
In any case they do have those dna dog tests if you're ever really curious. I forget how much they are now days but I think they've gone down quite a bit. |

I forget how much they are now days but I think they've gone down quite a bit. | Yeah, we actually looked into the different DNA testing, but so many dog breeds cannot be traced due to patents on the traits and they still aren't 100% accurate. What she is isn't of a huge concern to me... it's the town and our home owner's insurance that has the problem with certain breeds and will either raise your tax or completely cancel on you if you have an "aggressive breed (or aggressive mix)." The whole issue is so stupid and very irritating... but to make a point, I'm not going to waste my money on the test unless something becomes of our situation.
Quite a bit of people mentioned Malinois to me as well; Igree they are absoultely stunning dogs, but I don't see that breed in Sabina. I think her fur coat isn't long enough and her muzzle is a bit shorter (it's not wide...it's just not long).
Thank you for the DNA test idea though.
Sugar Daddy Otis:
OMG! I love Otis' pictures! He is such a handsome boy - talk about a gentle Giant! lol
Anyone else? Come on!
