| Re: New pup I hate to say it, but what breeder did you buy him from? He was separated from his litter mates WAY too early... you are going to end up having to compensate for that in your training with extra socialization and bite inhibition training. He's adorable, and beautiful... but he should be with his brothers and sisters right now. |

The puppy lab is beautiful just give him all the extra love and care he needs and he'll be fine. |

| Re: New pup 1st- He is precious and just so adorable. he is so young that he will probably even get cuter at around 8-12 weeks too. hes still just a furball now.
Breeders are rehoming earlier and earlier. It used to be 12 weeks, then 8, now it's 5. I got Kody at 7 weeks and he has a terrible case of seperation anxiety. He cries when I leave and he is almost 2. I've been doing this leaving and coming back thing for like 2 years now and he still hasn't caught on. With a LOT of training he should be fine, but you have your work cut out for you. Think of it this way, what if his mom and siblings had died? he would still be by himself but we wouldn't be commenting on it, we'd be congratulating you for taking on such a task. But as long as you give him everything he needs, I'm sure he will turn out fine. |

| Re: New pup The first couple of nights have been great. He is such a funny boy. He is already eating dry food, I make sure to soften it so not to hurt his teeth or possible choking. I bought him some Blue Buffalo puppy food to get him started, and some BB canned food which I mix in about a teaspoon with his dry food. My old college roommate just got a puppy, so I am going to take him over there a couple times a week for some socilization, and around 10 weeks get him into the class at the PetSmart. Gonna go to the vet next week for his first checkup and any vacinations he needs. He has accidents as expected but he has done amazingly well when letting him out, he goes everytime and to the same spot. Is he too young to learn he needs to be in his crate at night? I let him sleep with me the last two nights, probably a mistake, but tonight I'm gonna shut him in his crate and ignore his whining, except for taking him out to go potty. |

| Re: New pup You might want to add a little Puppy Esbilac to his food for a while. That's what I did when I got a baby ferret (who are all taken from their families WAY too young), except for the ferret I used Kitten Milk Replacer. But a little extra nutrition might help to make up for the momma's milk he should be getting. I have a cat who was taken from her mother at 4-5 weeks, and her immune system is not great---she gets every kitty cold that comes around. So that might be another thing to watch for.
